General Description

This report presents a geologic description of some 122 square miles of the Scranton and New Blaine quadrangles in Logan and Johnson Counties, Arkansas.  It presents information concerning the geologic formations, and natural resources including coal, natural gas, sand and gravel, clay, and building stone.

It includes:

  • Table with stratigraphic nomenclature of rocks in the study area
  • Lithologic descriptions of the formations in the study area
  • Discussion of the regional structure *Estimated coal reserves in the study area
  • Table of wells drilled in the study area as of July 1, 1964
  • Colored geologic map in pocket
