General Description

This guidebook contains the road log for a two-day field trip, designed to leave from Little Rock, visiting Bauxite, and staying overnight in Hot Springs the first day. The second day route covers from Hot Springs to Magnet Cove and back to Little Rock. The emphasis of the trip is economic geology. Stop descriptions include the Jeffrey quarry, 3M's Big Rock Quarry (both in Pulaski County), ALCOA's bauxite deposits in Saline County, Union Carbide's Wilson Springs mines at Potash Sulphur Springs in Garland County, Baroid Division of National Lead barite mine in Hot Spring County, overlook on West Mountain in Hot Springs National Park, and Magnet Cove (7 stops) in Hot Spring County.
