General Description

This report summarizes the results of work done in Bradley, Calhoun, and Ouachita Counties relating to a water resources study of Arkansas by the U. S. Geological Survey and the Arkansas Geological Commission. The publication contains discussions of the geology, availability, and quality of ground water in the study area.

Included are:

  • Four colored maps depicting the occurrence of fresh water in the Carrizo Sand, the Cane River Formation, Sparta Sand, and Cockfield formation, and showing the maximum depth to fresh water
  • A generalized stratigraphic table for the study area
  • A summary of chemical analyses of selected wells in the study area, depicting values for silica, iron, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, bicarbonate, carbonate, sulfate, chloride, fluoride, nitrate, dissolved solids, hardness (calcium, magnesium, non-carbonate), percent sodium, sodium absorption ratio, specific conductance, pH, and temperature
